Hey people,
Very often, when i watch videos of players playing ranked, they say something about gods not being competitive and teams or compositions of gods not being good, aka players saying "my team is so much better", even though they dont even know who they are playing against or how good they are. And i heard people laughing at sseing cupid or loki in a ranked game. I would like to know about these things and ill already say thanks for any responses :)

Those people are talking about the competitive tier. Gods that are more viable than others. Viable = Better. Cupid isn't so good, which is understandable of why they're laughing. But there are no reasons to laugh of . He is good on Solo Laning, Jungle, and is the King of Arena.

An example:

is the top tier tank. Almost always you'll see the teams fighting to get . Different from , which is not as good as .

But if you get really, really good, you can play any god you like. The reason why high-level players like Drybear and such get to fool around is because they get really good with their chosen god.

Gods are usually nerfed or banned depending on their stats in ranked play. The downside of this arrangement is that gods not often seen in ranked are often ignored. Fight against the system and pick a weird god in ranked!

I have to agree on DJ for this one, though I would take out Sun from the Jungle section, and add in the mid section.

Mid: , , . If you can't get one of these 3, you're in a bad place. But and CAN work.

Sorry if I repeated at all what Dark Jaw listed. I didn't look at his options so as not to bias myself.

Loki is by no means a bad jungle. Actually, he's Lassiz's (Dignitas, #1 team along with Denial Esports) jungler of choice, alongside Ne Zha. He has scary ganks and can kill at level 5 even under tower. Meanwhile, Shing prefers Fenrir and Thor.

Cupid is bad because he's more of an ADC caster, like neith, without the level of utility as neith.

As long as you don't do something stupid you're pretty much able to do what you want.

So don't go Fenrir solo lane or something like that.

If you are a great Ares, go Ares support (a good Ares is better than a bad Sobek). Same thing with Cupid, Hades etc etc.

Some gods are just better than others, that's all it means. Some gods are top tier, others are viable, and others are outclassed by other gods in that role to the point that you shouldn't pick them if winning is your primary goal.

I won't get into specific tier lists because it varies greatly among levels of play though, and it's mostly subjective anyway. Freya destroys at low levels, but is just viable at the competitive level, same with Loki. Really, at the casual level, just play whoever you want. Zhong is first pick/first ban in pretty much every competitive match right now, but I find him 'meh' at best in normal conquest. That's important to keep in mind before you start looking at tier lists.

People can talk all they want about having the stronger team based off of which gods are picked, but short of a complete troll team, it always comes down to the player. No god is so much stronger than others in its role that it's instant GG.

I think this whole thing about top and low tier is a ********. Go watch some competitive matches during the weekend. There are players who can stomp everyone with Artemis, Cupid, Ares, Freya or Ymir. Actually teams with Ymir and Ares became quite popular lately.

You must remember that there are players who are in incredibly good with one certain god and no one knows why. And that certain god doesn't have to be the god who is considered top tier.

Any god can be top tier if the player how is controlling them is knows what they are doing.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the "official" MOBA Tier list are mainly measured by how often the characters is picked in competitive play (at least that's how it is in fighting games).

I personally don't care the slightest about Tier list, in fact I tend to be draw towards low tier characters (Phoenix Wright in UMvC 3 for life). In Smite I main who is often considered the worst carry in the game, but I just love him more then any other carry in the game.
