Tyrannical helmet isn't worth the price and mystical mail isn't a support item.
Also, just for looks, you should separate mid and support builds.
2nd item options seem a bit open. Suggested options could include Book of Thoth, Chronos' Pendant, Tyrannical Plate Helm (against phys Mid + phys Jung perhaps), Stone of Binding (early flat pen function), Divine Ruin (anti-heal), or Spear of Desolation.
After your 2nd item, things open up more. You can choose others from that list of 2nd item options...if you got some flat pen in that 2nd item, you might consider Spear of the Magus (it's use is a bit more questionable now, but I think it should still work fairly well for Baron).
As the game progresses, I think Soul Reaver is a very strong late-game item now with the added % pen. You can also consider Typhon's Fang (even as lone lifesteal maybe?), but would probably pass on it if the enemy built any of the stronger anti-heal items (e.g. Divine Ruin or Brawler's Beat Stick) or have anti-heal in their kits ( Bacchus, Sobek, Chang'e, etc.). Other late item options include Pythagorem's Piece, Charon's Coin, Soul Gem, Staff of Myrddin, and Rod of Tahuti. And of course you can opt for the defensive... Ethereal Staff, Mantle of Discord, or Magi's Cloak.
You'll have to figure out how you want to order, though.
It has too many colors. For me, it's very hard to read the solo and mid lane part, and that's a big problem. I'd suggest light colors, such as this one (ecb85d) and this one (b47ded), which are smooth colors that help people read the guide more pleasantly.
Also, you aren't naming the passive at all. You do say, in the Vivid Gaze description, that the passive is applied by all of his abilities. That is correct, but you should explain Baron Samedi's passive since is his most hard to understand ability.
Kriega mostly brought everything i was going to suggest for the builds, so that's all. :) ♥
Starter: This needs to be changed. Baron has one of the worst early mid clears in the game, if not the worst. The tier 1 shoes need to changed to something else, either Spellbook or preferably, Magic Focus - but this comes in later in regards to builds.
The Example Build: Overall, it's not an awful build per say, but you're building Book of Thoth without much reason for it, it's not like you're building Soul Reaver or/and Book of the Dead to make the best use out of Thoth. Shaman's Ring is an item im unsure about since the change, it doesen't give mobility any more, and really needs to be stacked to get a good damage purpose. Pythagorem's Piece is a decent item choice on Baron, but this build is missing on lategame damage a bit, especially to tanks so it's not a priority over other items like Ethereal Staff and Soul Reaver. Rod of Tahuti - decent item on Baron, works nice with his heal under the health threshold.
My suggested example build on Baron Samedi: Shoes of Focus > Spear of the Magus > Divine Ruin > Rod of Tahuti > Ethereal Staff > Chronos' Pendant > sell Shoes of Focus lategame for Obsidian Shard (or Soul Reaver), sell Spear of the Magus ultralategame for Soul Reaver (or Obsidian Shard). Why sell Magus that late? Because by that point with this build you can already decimate squishies, but it having that Reaver/Obs Shard/E-Staff combo will hurt those tanky frontliners lategame.
An example of this build in the very lategame: https://smite.guru/match/961685056
If don't need Divine Ruin you can just go: Shoes of Focus > Spear of the Magus > Ethereal Staff > Chronos' Pendant > Soul Reaver > ok now here you can pickup Mantle of Discord - gives you decent protections combined with the health stealing from a Ethereal Staff lategame, otherwise get Obsidian Shard > Sell Shoes of Focus lategame for Staff of Myrddin or something like Pythagorem's Piece etc...
And of course with a different suggested example build, needs a different starter, to which I suggest: Mage's Blessing, Magic Focus and Baron's Brew. Obviously you still get boots first for the build, it's just your clear is improved getting Magic Focus.
Onto your damage item suggestions, most are fine, but Gem of Isolation is a bit eh... Baron still has a DoT on his 3, so he can still make decent use of the item, but it's more expensive than Ethereal Staff and E-Staff will give Baron much more survivability in fights.
And may I make it clear that the build examples I gave are not something to use every match, just generic builds that should (usually) do the job, I gave 1 example with anti-heal and 1 example without.
If you want another reference (which is similar to the second build example I gave), look at the build used here by PrettyPriMe:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5qU4-9IgWgM
Support:
Your example build only has 20% CDR, and no Gauntlet of Thebes which you should really be building. Your starter also needs extra pots, I suggest Guardian's Blessing, Shoes, Baron's Brew, 3 x Healing Potions.
All I can say here is use my support builds section from here as a reference: https://www.smitefire.com/smite/guide/baron-samedi-conquest-mid-solo-support-6-9-20292
(click on the pages tab > go to Page 3 (Support).)
Solo:
You don't have a solo build so I can't say anything except use my Solo build examples as a reference and the builds on this page:
https://smiteprobuilds.com/Builds?p_filters_page=1&p_filters_search=&p_filters_god=3518&p_filters_pro=~&p_filters_opponent=~&p_filters_role=Support&p_filters_league=~&p_filters_sort=~
(One more thing, look at differences in the relic choices I list for Baron Mid, and for Baron Support. I hope you realise why there ARE differences, and I don't recommend Thorns generally on Baron, not even in tanky roles - solo or support).
My thoughts on the support, I was thinking either [shoes of focus],[sovereignty], [gauntlet of thebes], [lotus crown], [pythagorem's piece] [gem of isolation]. OR [shoes of focus], [gauntlet of thebes], [lotus crown], [sovereignty], [ethereal staff], [pythagorem's piece]. The last 2 can be switched as well.
shows: Shoes of Focus
Besides, mages are making good use out of proc items (Reaver, E-Staff) right now anyway.
Some mages I would build Thoth on, like Raijin if I didn't get Bancrofts into high pressure Mid matchups (like the Set Mid I went against yesterday), so I have good lategame scaling with Reaver and can melt tanks.
Hel is someone I would consider Thoth on.
Thoth himself I don't bother building book of thoth most matches because I just prefer rushing deso/divine then into the E-Staff and Reaver, or I go CDR > Divine > Chronos' > E-Staff > Obs Shard/Reaver (either order) > sell boots for Soul Gem. So I can abuse item proc effects with this build.
I figure since many items have some mana Toth would work well.
For bruisers i love EStaff.
Watch Prettyprime, Zyrhoes or Wlfy on Twitch when they're streaming Smite and ask them (or basically any pro Mid laner). Or ask on Smite reddit. Or ask here.
If timezone is the issue you could just watch VODs on their channels, you don't have to watch them live.
Support build: Shoes of Focus, Lotus Crown, Genji's Guard, Gauntlet of Thebes, Spirit Robe, Gem of Isolation as a generic build.
Relic options ideally are: beads, aegis, teleport (solo), shell, heavenly wings.
Do not get thorns or meditation on Baron.
What? Have you never seen certain mages in solo before? Are you even aware of anything regarding what may or may not be meta, or what may or may not be viable in conquest?
Also I taking a mage to solo also typically means building them hybrid/tanky.
Just because he is a mage doesen't mean he's suitable for mid. You don't see many Chang'e, Ao Kuang, Aphrodite mids do you? So that argument is flawed. Baron has one of the worst possible early clears (well early game in general) for a mage (if not the worst) and lowest damage of many mages.
Bancroft's Talon isn't really an item you should consider, IMO, and especially shouldn't be core. He's already got healing, and you don't want to get absolutely shut down by anti-heal. You should instead be prioritizing Spear of the Magus earlier if you're going to go that route. If anything, it should be your 2nd item right after Shoes.
That said, I'd also probably prioritize other lifesteal items a lot less...no SG, no Pythag's, for example.
In Support, with his ramp-to-root, you should consider higher early pressure with Stone of Binding, which isn't listed anywhere for some reason. And his heal is too situational and only functional around enemy gods that Rod of Asclepius doesn't seem worth it to me.
And in your example Support build, here's where I think Spear of the Magus needs to be prioritized way less. Get it later in a build if you do pick it up, and make sure you get magical protection earlier.
Overall, though, this is a significantly better effort than some of your previous builds. You should offer a skill leveling direction, though.
As for the "support" build that has no magical defense, and has not only spear of the magus but combined with gem of iso and asclepius alltogether as one is just not giving a good impression.
I agree about the nerfs to Baron and to Soul Reaver, but Magus is still as strong. Baron just doesn't abuse it as much as Merlin or Anubis.
What about the enemy support? And the enemy mid? Or if the enemy team has a different comp and is running a magical ADC?
I know Lotus Crown provides situational magical prots, but that's no excuse to forego magical defense altogheter. If you still want to be bruiser, pick Void Stone. Otherwise, píck Genji's Guard or Oni Hunter's Garb.
