TRANSCENDENCE VS. TITAN'S BANE
Alright, let me give you guys some insight on how certain items affect
Odin's damage. Again, I hope you can use this data to better plan future builds for ability based gods.
So... if you're going for a damage build, and you have enough flat penetration, should you build high physical power with
Transcendence or build EVEN MORE pen (percentage based penetration) with
Titan's Bane?
Keep the following in mind:
Frostbound Hammer build:
Build:

Let's further compare the
Void Shield and
Brawler's Beat Stick builds with a fully Stacked
Ring of Spears
Void Shield (Fully stacked Ring of Spears) build:

Conclusion
For
Odin,
Titan's Bane (2300 gold) is nearly as potent as a fully stacked
Transcendence (2600 gold) against a squishy
Artemis. With
Titan's Bane, your abilities will be more effective against tanky targets. These points also apply to other ability based gods with low scaling on their abilities, so keep that in mind when building.
Also note that you don't have to waste Bird Bombs killing minions for stacks if you build
Titan's Bane.
As for whether you should build
Brawler's Beat Stick or
Void Shield (or another item of your choice) in your damage build, I'm gonna leave that up to your judgement. You can consider these points:
- Physical gods on your team kicking ***?
- Got $$ (and of course decent physical allies)?
I hope you got a better understanding for why I chose the items in my "Bird Bomb Damage Build" example. Lastly, in a real Arena match, you won't be just against an
Artemis bot. Obviously build
Mantle of Discord instead of
Breastplate of Valor.
BALANCED BUILD COMPARISON
Let's see how the Balanced Build compares to the damage build at level 20. Again, this was tested against a level 20
Artemis bot.
The items for the build are:
Balanced Build
Damage Comparison (No Ring of Spears stacks)
|
|
Basic Attack
|
Last Basic Attack
|
Bird Bomb (Full Health Shield)
|
Gungnir's Might
|
|
177 (41 mitigated) |
265 (62 mitigated) |
323+490 (75+114 mitigated) |
136+136 (31+31 mitigated) |
In the past, I would build
Transcendence instead of
The Crusher in my balanced builds. So just for the hell of it, let me show you the comparison:
transcendence instead of the crusher
Damage Comparison (No Ring of Spears stacks)
|
|
Basic Attack
|
Last Basic Attack
|
Bird Bomb (Full Health Shield)
|
Gungnir's Might
|
|

320 (123 mitigated) |
327+479 (125+183 mitigated) |
138+138 (52+52 mitigated) |
EARLY GAME COMPARISON
Alright. Let's see how
Odin's damage is affected by different 2nd item choices. We'll look at
Jotunn's Wrath,
Shifter's Shield, and
Void Shield.
All testing was done under these conditions:
Early Game Comparison for 2nd item built at level 9
Damage Comparison (No Ring of Spears stacks)
|
|
Basic Attack
|
Last Basic Attack
|
Bird Bomb (Full Health Shield)
|
Gungnir's Might
|
|
105 (31 mitigated) |
158 (46 mitigated) |
136+434 (40+126 mitigated) |
53+53 (16+16 mitigated) |
|
106 (20 mitigated) |
159 (30 mitigated) |
142+464 (27+88 mitigated) |
55+55 (11+11 mitigated) |
|
119 (47 mitigated) |
179 (70 mitigated) |
142+419 (55+163 mitigated) |
56+56 (22+22 mitigated) |
So to summarize for you, all three items are great. Experiment with different items in your build.
Speaking of boogie...
Thank you so much for your insightful feedback. I'll make the necessary changes.
Some points I'd like to discuss:
But you're probably right. To become a better player, I think I should get used to buying and using Blink Rune first, even with potentially unreliable team mates.
Should I remove the option of getting Aegis Amulet?
Generally, it should be max Raven, then Lunge, then Gungnir, then Ult. Check my guide for reference.
And as for an enemy Freya, I wouldn't use Runic Shield as a counter...she's not so reliant on magical power...rather, you just need to slow her down as much as possible. Catch her in your ring when you know her ult is down (huge attack speed reduction), get decent magical protection (Bulwark is fine), and consider, if she's not the only basic attacker, to get something more like Midgardian Mail or Witchblade as a counter, rather than Winged Blade.
For the relics, yes...I've gotten screwed here and there, but I think some of those were still avoidable. Never initiate so far ahead of teammates that your ult isn't a threat...if they're close, you can at least retreat in some numbers, and remember that the ring is only a threat because it's a trap for your teammates to deal damage...not you.
And should you remove Aegis Amulet? No, if there's an enemy Anubis or Scylla or Poseidon, it can still be helpful. First should be a mandatory Blink Rune, second options could be Aegis, Beads, or more team-oriented things like Magic Shell (or even Phantom Veil if there's an enemy Odin and you're being a wonderful teammate for those that have no escapes and are too stupid to get it themselves).
