Hi! My name is FootFetish, but my real name is Diego. I was born in Uruguay, a beautiful and humble country in south america. I do dedicate a lot of time into my guides and I love helping people with them. I enjoy singing and I'm studing for it, and I love smite!
Aphrodite has always been my number one. She was my first mastered god, and now I don't play her as often as I used to. But I do know a lot about her and I want to share my knowledge with you!
I don't play smite since 2020 started, but this specific Aphrodite guide it's a guide that i worked on a lot and i just can't let it go. But for my luck, things haven't changed a lot for her since the last patch where this was updated. So let's get into it and share your doubts or let me know any mistake in the comments!
Also, before getting into the guide, beware that Aphrodite is a very controversial god. Maining Aphrodite brought me a lot of problems such as people abandoning games because allegedly aphrodite sucks [which is not 100% false], people going AFK because it's your fault, even "being gay" (?) or being always yelled at and reported for missing opportunities, abilities and more. All of this is because Aphrodite is mostly played incorrectly. She has a very strange/hard style of play, and all your abilities are lifesaving for you and your teammates. So pay attention to all details carefully to have a more peaceful life.

PASSIVECenter of AttentionAbility Type: Buff Aphrodite gains 4 Physical Protections and 4 Magical Protections for each friendly and enemy god within 70 units of her. Stacks up to nine times. |
♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛
♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛ As a mid laner, Aphrodite is very squishy in the early game. She has 448HP, and 355 speed, and that can play against you if you take a bad desition. What you should do is focus on clearing the wave. If the mid laner tries to fight you, try to contest using your damage and healing yourself, but you can always juke or try to farm outside your lane (Always from your side of the map). You should try to secure your red buff WITH your jungler. You have good clear, but if the mid laner / jungler ganks you, you will most of the times die or at least get your buff stolen. Get your gold, get your mid harpies, and rotate only if you're ahead. It doesn't really matter if the enemy mid laner rotates more than you. You're aphrodite. Your strong point is late game and teamfighting. |
♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛ Aphrodite in solo, in the early game, is stronger than in any other lane. She wins in wave clear against a lot of gods and goddesses and she has some potential to fight in the early game. You should just poke and clear in the first wave, and then go for your blue buff, you really need it. Aphrodite's main mission in lane is to poke the enemy out. You won't have a lot of killing potential over enemies, since good players always will rush Pestilence against you. That is kinda frustrating. But you can send them back to base if you keep damaging and damaging them over and over. Rotate with your jungler into the mid laner, and try to ask for ganks whenever its possible. |
♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛ As support, this is your worst early game lane. Pressure in duo lane is a must-have, and Aphrodite's level 1 to 5 lacks any pressure. You do have sustain and extra damage, movement speed and mana regen for your soul mate. But that's not enough! In the early game you lack damage and you lack peel too. You should proxy the first wave. Throw Love Birds and ask for the ADC to do the same thing. Run to lane and abuse the fact that they have to tank the minions. You must try to kill them only if you have a high early pressure ADC like Sol, Ullr or Neith. If you don't have a pressuring ADC, or your ADC doesn't wants to fight (Or you don't want to) just focus on clearing. You will finish sooner than the enemy duo, so you must poke them or steal the purple buff. If you don't feel confortable with proxying, just clear the wave and try not to die. You won't get the same lead you'd get if you proxy, but you will be safer. |
♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛
♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛ In the mid game, Aphrodite starts to get big. She can already do high damage with her combo, she is a pretty essential part of teamfights and she is almost unkillable with someone at her side. Everything has a bad side though, so Aphrodite is easy to kill and with the low mobility that she has she transforms into something like a hit-or-miss. Aphrodite must be aside of her support / jungler as most as possible. In the mid game you're not too strong being as squishy as you are. You should focus on ward, farm and teamfight carefully. |
♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛ In the mid game, solo laners start to rotate often and kill objectives. Aphrodite should not stand behind. Mid game with some damage and tankiness is perfect for her. She can't be a real frontline because she's not as hard to kill as a real warrior, but she can take some damage for her teammates and she can initiate and peel. You should already have a fair ammount of items at this time, so you should not be afraid to teamfight. Kiss your jungler / carry (Mid/ADC) and gank lanes, or gank the jungler. Don't forget to farm though, its really important to get the most gold you can for late game, since this phase of the game is Aphrodite's best stage. |
♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛ Aphro should already be rotating around the map, focusing in ganking the enemy mid laner and leeching farm from her jungler / ADC. You have control over who dies and who lives. You can use your kit over one god, and with the help of your team, that enemy will die 99% of the times. Aphrodite into support can be a little bit though when it comes to healing. Having between 0 to 120 power inside your build can affect hardly your healing capabilities, even more if the enemy gets antiheal. Rod of Asclepius should be your best (and only) damage option. |
♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛
♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛ Now that late game has arrived, you are jesus! you have insane damage output, Love Birds by itself can hurt someone really bad to the point they should back to base, and Back Off! transform into an objective securing (And kill securing!) tool. Now, the price for that is that Aphrodite dies too fast. You must be sticked to someone in every single teamfight since she has 0 mobility (Only a mobility boost in her main CC) and she has 1740 HP. It sounds like i'm scaring you lol.. But i really have to warn you that you need to know positioning if you wish to play Aphrodite. Damaging from far away is your first mission. Then comes everything else. |
♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛ As the solo laner, now you're tankier than ever before, and you still can heal effectively and deal good damage. You rule. You can go there by yourself and if you don't feel confortable being alone, just grab your support and damage from the back. Try to tank if needed, but remember you're not all-tanky as a guardian. Your main role is to heal and use Kiss wisely and multiple times in teamfights. |
♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛ Now you are smite's mother! Your peel is really easy to apply, you have damage for your own, you have invulnerability via Undying Love and you're a healing powerhouse! Late game comes and it's your time to shine. Try to follow your teammates, initiate and if the enemy has antiheal try to heal out of combat. You must tank tower shots and even titan if its required, you must tank objectives and you must tank enemy damage! Try to stun and bodyblock people to make them easy targets. |

Also you still haven't fixed your 2nd support build. An easy solution would be get genji's third instead of breastplate, and get Gauntlet of Thebes 4th (which is also getting buffed next patch).
and i oop-
Also in your 2nd solo build, you mention swapping pestilence for breastplate, thing is breastplate + genji's + spirit robe is 40% CDR, and as I mentioned the potion earlier (and solo lane you can get blue buff which gives 10% CDR), you only need 30% CDR max in your build.
But yeah i'm kinda stupid since i apparently don't see a difference between 40 and 50
The first Solo build looks fine to me overall, but the 2nd build (against magical/healer) doesn't balance CDR and protections well enough for my liking. In the first 4 items, 2 are magical protection, which means you're ignoring the likely need for physical protection as well against a physical jungler, or when you start rotating and encountering other physical enemies, etc. And that is perhaps too strong of a commitment to anti-heal and pen. Shoes of the Magi + Divine Ruin are more reminiscent of a mid-laner's itemization.
Note that when the Mid-Season patch hits, if you wanted a defensive anti-heal item, the new one, Contagion, will fit the bill just fine. 60 prots, 100 health, 250 mana, and 15 MP5 along with the anti-heal aura.
Rather than just showing 2 builds, I think adding in situational items to consider would be helpful. Depending on the situation, Rod of Asclepius should be considered IMO, and I think I might prefer that over Ethereal Staff's showing in the 1st build.
The Mid build layout is definitely more organized in terms of what I was talking about above.
For the example build though, I would personally get rid of Spear of Desolation and just go straight into either Spear of the Magus or Divine Ruin (if anti-heal is needed). You'll have 30% CDR in the early game just from the blessing and Chronos, and that should be more than enough at that stage of the game.
I definitely wouldn't commit so many damage / pen items to Aphrodite in Mid. Getting Magi, Deso, Magus, AND Ob Shard is overkill, especially for a god that only has 2 damage abilities. Choose one of Magus or Shard, not both. And with her being a relatively easy target due to lack of escape, getting the MS from Rod of Asclepius would again be helpful, but it's not even listed here. Soul Reaver, for the same reason of only having 2 damage abilities, is probably not a good investment. You are a utility mage, not a nuking mage. Reaver is good for gods that can spam damage abilities, not for Aphro.
For Support, I like that you're actually building Supporty, rather than some of the others, but I think in the first example build, there's an over-commitment to aura items, at the expense of more CDR/utility. Guardian to Focus to Thebes (OR Sov OR Heart) would be fine, depending on situation, but after that, I would probably want to commit more to some form of CDR/mana sustain. So, for example...
In pros and cons, you state she has good burst. I would completely take that off. Her only burst is from Back Off! and that isn't really the strongest damage ability out there. Her Love Birds is tick damage so is slower to apply the full damage, and she has no other damage abilities. If anything, it's LACK of burst being a con. Another weird thing you write is that she's decent from behind (pro) but at the same time, easy to snowball from (con).
I don't think sacrificing 2 seconds of cooldown reduction in each ability for a potion is a good invertion at all (Mostly since she needs full cooldown reduction ASAP so she can start kissing enemies without any worry, and have her ultimate most of the possible time up).
Yes, you can get Potion of Magical Might. It boostes your damage, but i don't see the thing in replacing straight CDR (which also comes with power and other utile stuff most of the times) just for a 50 power potion..
More even, as Aphrodite being such a fragile character as a mid laner, she shouldn't get items that rely on dying-or-not. If she gets catched out of position by some burst-y character, she will die and lose her 500 gold and her potion, and her CDR won't be there again.
When you go for an item with CDR, you're probably missing out on another stat that might be more beneficial. Overloading on any one stat usually means you're losing efficiency as well.
Remember, if you're not using your abilities immediately on cooldown, you're losing efficiency for every extra second it's not used. And you have other options for possible increase in CDR anyway, not just with replacement items for Shoes, but also if you end up passing by a mana buff, or it's late game and you do decide you would like a Potion of Magical Might.
I'm not saying having 40% CDR all from items is a terrible thing. It's nice because it gives you reliable max CDR. But I feel that if you itemize that strongly into CDR, you're really losing out on something that will probably benefit you more.
Example scenario: you've destroyed enemy Phoenixes but enemy hasn't destroyed your Phoenixes.
Well... That has a full explanation i think.
Aphrodite's kit is really support-ish, no matter in what lane you are. If you are from behind with for example Arachne, Loki or Eset, you will mostly of the times not be able to make a comeback. With aphrodite, you have some decent healing, and your ultimate is always good.
Now, if you get ganked in the early game by (idk, for example) Thanatos, you will definitely start to be an easier target if you don't stick to your tank (I'M TALKING ABOUT MID LANE).
Also, yeah.. I'm still learning a lot of english. I thought "burst" was just the capability of doing a lot of damage, either way over time or not. But thanks for your long feedback, i'll try to correct ASAP
Solo Build 1: Urchin third item is not... ideal (especially on Aphro, like are you sure you're going to dominate that much that the pickup third would be fine?). Would prioritise it after void stone (or maybe even lotus crown). Also could consider pen boots since you're getting breastplate second. Iso for boots replacement is fine.
Solo Build 2: pen boots into pestilence into divine. Why not CDR boots? You're going to suffer early mana issues anyway but cdr boots would make it better. I would swap Genji's for lotus crown since you have no physical defense until 5th item, and it's spirit robe which only has 40 phys prots which is just bad. Swap genji's for lotus crown, then get spirit robe, and last item you can get genji's/mantle. So CDR boots, pestilence, divine, lotus, spirit robe, genji's/mantle. Void Stone for boots replacement is fine.
Support Build: Don't know why you're trying to build her like a guardian save for the Chronos' pendant (which itself - why is this in a support build???). Consider swapping heartward for genji's, and sov for lotus crown. Thebes second might not be ideal on Aphro either since her early lane phase is rough in support. Suggested example build: cdr boots, lotus, genji's, thebes, shield of regrowth (or winged blade, or situational) , mantle of discord (or spirit robe or situational). Sell boots for Gem of iso or alternative.
Mid Build: Fine, but you could consider a Book of Thoth route if you want to itemise into Book of the Dead. Also you need divine Ruin listed as situational for Mid. Also you overcap CDR (50%) within your first 4 items (including starter) which is just poor inefficient building, either swap deso for divine or swap cdr boots for pen boots.

No more of these comments. I seem to have to keep repeating myself.
I do feel in the Supp build that in place of Sov, BoV might be a better option at least in that build order with Thebes 2nd. Could allow you to get Reinforced or Traveler's for different shoes utility function. Of course, you wouldn't then get Chronos' later in the build, but I think that's actually fine for a Support function...instead, get some additional CDR from Shield of Regrowth
In the Mid build, a bit too squishy IMO. Would think at least one protection item would be helpful.
Also, instead of a single build, I feel a build example should be provided, along with a listing of situational items to consider.
The writeup is fine. Covers general strat well, identifies her weaknesses and how to cover for that, with positioning, warding, etc.
I don't see the thing in getting defense as a mid laner. if you're getting deeply focused then yes, mage's cloak or Mantle of Discord are good options. personally i won't reccomend it.
yeah, i wanted to cover all the aphrodite aspects :) she was never really meta, but in this season 6 she's getting a little more stronger! and you should ward in every god really.
thanks for reading my guide!
That said, outside of combat, the power will help get people back in the fight more quickly.
Being Aphro usually automatically means you're forcing the enemy to build anti-heal. If you don't, you get the last laugh for them being stupid, but when they do (as they should), this just means you want to figure out ways in which you can still be useful even with your healing nerfed.
Hello. I see theperfectprism already commented on your guide. He is one of our aphrodite experts.
I also recommend talking to Vini since he's played a good amount of Aphrodite as well
The only thing that Pris and I have different opinions on is about Lotus Crown/ Celestial Legion Helm. He prefers the latter, while I prefer the former.
With the fact you can now continue building past 6 items (significantly added cost including Elixir of Speed and another full item to replace Shoes (minus part of the original cost of the Shoes), investing 500 gold in an item that does not persist through death isn't always going to be a good idea.
In addition, although when you play Solo you should have that buff for the laning phase, you're not necessarily going to have it for the majority of the rest of the game.
Having CDR capped by items isn't directly an awful idea. It provides consistent CDR that never goes away.
However, i will add that certain items to max cdr aren't good together.
Ex: BoV and chronos pendant together.
- Celestial Legion Helm is more valuable to her right now then Breastplate of Valor. Mainly because it gives 10 more physical protection then the breastplate (albeit it's only because of the passive), and it gives you a boost to your magical damage in ~level 9-11, depending if you're farming correctly or not.
- I personally never liked the idea of Lotus Crown on her, and there are better items you could put here ( Rod of Asclepius/ Spear of the Magus). Also, you don't need that many defenses in Aphrodite solo if you're playing smart and constantly have wards up/ being around a good teammate late game.
I agree with your mid build, but I would put Divine Ruin as a possible replacement for a pen item if the enemy team has a lot of healing.
Now for a personal question from aphro main to aphro main. I've been trying Warrior's Blessing on Aphrodite solo recently and I've had good results with it. I beat Erlang Shen with it, Sun Wukong and I didn't struggle as much againts a Chang'e. Have you considered it? What are your thoughts about it?
EDIT: I would actually take Gem of Isolation in the mid build over one of the pen items, but I'd build pretty much exactly like you.
Well, i'm really new here so idk how to get all those item and god codes oh jeez.
but i can tell you that celestial legion helm has never been an interesting pick for me, i really don't understand the passive (Removes protections when it takes damage? wut)
Lotus crown is ehh... cool, i mean she can't proc it as other gods can, but she can make a fair use of it with the mp5 and the protections are always useful! you can get other utility items, like winged blade or stuff.. meh.
yeah, you can allow yourself and get damage, since if you don't get any penetration (Magus is perfect) the lane will be boring as hell and your lategame potential will be ruined.
Aaaand yes, when i feel lucky i do play with warrior's blessing, i've even used guardian's blessing, but just in certain games, i really do like the mp5 on mage's blessing but that is something that grew up in me, warriors blessing is perfect!
And yes, gem of isolation is a good item now with the back off they wouldn't be able to even move, but thanks for the support! (wink)
will transition into:
Apollo, Divine Ruin.
Anyway!
YES, Winged Blade is such a good item and I recommend it heavily when you're playing againts a slow-heavy god! ( Bakasura, Osiris, etc).
The passive for Celestial Legion Helm gives you temporary protections, let's call them that. It pretty much makes you immune to minion damage, and since you're prob facing a warrior in solo, who'll normaly only take away 1-3 of the stacks, it pretty much gives you as much protections as Breastplate of Valor but it gives you way more magical power!
No problem sis (wink)
i'll see if that works lol
Well in that case you can get Celestial Legion Helm all the way, i just like breastplate, i have a thing on it i always end getting it on! but i'm open to try out the helm and see how it works! thanks for the code information!!
In a long sustained fight breastplate will mitigate more however won;t increase your damage as much, which CLH will give you.
During short trades/poking it excels or when an assassin comes around that relies on his abilities
First of all, I don't think aphro can be a support, she doesn't have everything a support needs, but if I would do it, I'd mix damage and defenses (bruiser) I would build:
Shoes of Focus, Celestial Legion Helm, Void Stone, Breastplate of Valor, Oni Hunter's Garb + some utility/situational items like Rod of Asclepius, but never Chronos' Pendant, it isn't an item for supports it is for mid laners.
You're right, she doesn't. Only a 1 sec stun with Kiss, 25% slow to enemies with Back Off!, healing for herself and her soulmate with Love Birds and the ability to provide an Aegis + Beads combo with Undying Love to save her soulmate in tough situations. You're right, Aphro has no peel and no support capabilities at all! /s
I don't know why the community resists so much to the idea that mages can be supports just as well as guardians/warriors, especially when we have ASSASSINS being supports in the current meta.
Hel, Baron Samedi, Nox and Aphrodite are completely viable as supports. Their early game will be different than guardians, for sure, since they're not meat shields until some defenses are built, but people shouldn't take their bad experiences (i.e. Aphro building full damage in duo) to rule out these gods' viability in the support role.
I am not resisting to the idea of mages being supports, I'm resisting the idea of Aphrodite Support.
Her kit already works for the support role, and she's a mage, not a guardian. It's the same thing to ask for Ne Zha's kit to be more supportive.
Some players are too dumb to properly build and it can happen with any god in any role. This fact doesn't rule out Aphro's viability as a support. As a matter of fact, if Aphro got recognized more as a support, people would actually learn how to build her properly for this role.
I already met support Aphros that followed an acceptable support build path, and they did their job like any other guardian would. The same way that I met people building full damage guardians and not doing their job. Should I also rule out Ymir, Cabrakan and Jorm as supports, since I saw people going full damage on them while in the support role?
Well, then you're just being subborn.
No it's not because absolutely nobody resists to the idea of Ne Zha support.
Well, all of your options are working better outside the support role. I would rather have all the options as solo laners than supports :p
Well, maybe, but my opinion stay the same: Aphrodite, Ra, Hel and Chang'e are not good as supports and should be Mid or Solo only. You can insist and pick it in a casual for fun, but it doesn't mean they are good doing it.
Plus, my following comment says all my thoughts in some few words.
First of all, I don't think aphro can be a GOOD support, she doesn't have everything a GOOD support needs.
The build is because aphrodite support altough not being very effective in some cases, it can work decently.
aaand i don't think ra can be support. neither can chang'e be. aphrodite and hel are understandable, but chang'e has directly no cc, only in her ultimate. and Ra might be better than chang'e, but still bad.
She's got a short stun. A small knockback with slow. Aegis + Beads in her ult. Increased MS and damage increase. Stacking protections (16 of each in early Duo lane, which is NOT BAD). And of course a significant heal, now with only 12s base CD.
If you do this in Duo, she doesn't have the same AOE control as some other Guardians, or individual control of the aforementioned Ne Zha/Serq, so maybe you have to consider balancing with certain gods in other roles. Instead of a pure damage mid or jungle, a god that typically builds bruiser with some good CC function, perhaps. Paired with a hunter who has some good CC of their own. Things like that.
And for that Duo, you change focus. It's more aggressive poke but perhaps with less purpose in killing early, but doing enough damage to force them back, while you get to heal up easily. Outlast, out-farm, get ahead.
I'm not saying Aphro is now a great Support...but saying she can't support given a proper playstyle and appropriate comp is, no offense here, uninspired and repetitive.
There-in lies the crux of the matter. Sure, any character can be played in any role, but not every player can play any character in any role. I don't want to harp on the Bacchus I had in an Arena game recently, but his full damage build, including Book of Thoth could have worked if he knew how to play around it. Not only did he not use his build to its full potential, he also went 4-9 and the enemy Bacchus, who built more bruisery, did more damage. So yes, Aphrodite can be played in the support role, but she needs a coordinated team for her to be successful (that or idiot enemies).
That's exactly the point, Bran! I'm not saying that Aphro is the best support in the game (she CLEARLY isn't lol), but the fact that people doesn't even consider her as a support (even with pro players like EmilZy and Hi-Rez itself saying that Aphro can be played as a support) is what bothers me the most.
She's probably a B+/A tier support, but is viable as a support nonetheless. The team comp needs some adjustments (a more CC focused jungler/solo), but she does the job just fine. Her laning phase in duo is solid and in teamfights she can keep an hypercarry alive through anyting. Out of combat healing is also very strong.
With my build you get 55 from boots + 60 from legion and a very good defense against the ADC and JG (if physical) and + 20 from Void Stone + 15 "penetration" from it. With my build you will have 135 magical + defenses early on and can heal much more early/mid game when they don't have anti heal and try to take an advantage from it. Also you should know as an Aphrodite supp that after the first minutes of the match your healing will be very countered by antiheal (unless the enemy is braindead)
