It seemed to be a point that comes up lately.

TL;DR: All ults need some sort of viable counter that isn't or

In my opinion, all ults should have some sort of counter.

Whether the counter is as simple as running away when you see him coming (Ares) or standing beneath her (Freya), all ults should have one way or another to either mitigate or remove the damaging components of said ult (BIG WORDS :D)

BEADS AND AEGIS IS NOT A COUNTER

Well, they are, but there should be another way to counter it.

If we go with the "Just buy beads/aegis" logic, then it's perfectly okay to put a 5 minute stun or a 5000 true damage ult in the game because "Just buy beads/aegis"

Meet my rl friend Nick. He loves playing Hades. He says that Hades' ultimate should have a cripple on it.

If Hades ult has a cripple, then you're either forced to buy beads or the ult is uncounterable.

Yes Hades ult is easy to counter, but that's why your team SHOULD be combining his ult with more cc.

An ult is not supposed to be an "I win" button. It's supposed to be an extremely powerful move, but still has it's counters. Every ult in the game right now has counters. Some are more effective than others, but still. (If you can think of an ult that's only counters is Beads or Aegis, gladly post below.)

I don't really know a good way to end this post, so I'll just say that this is certainly just my opinion, and please post your thoughts.

If you have a counter like 'run away', the ult will be near useless. I like the way the ults are right now. They set up kills and change the way teamfights flow. How do you want to counter ? It's a stun, it's uncounterable.

is a simple counter. If you are the first one hit, well lucky you it's only a 1 second stun. If you aren't. Then you should've moved. xD

Actually, the uncounterable ults were part of what drew me to Smite. They wouldn't be ULTIMATE otherwise. I think the only thing that should counter ults are other ults (with a few exceptions. Arachne's ult is not an ult, we're just going to get that out of the way now)

can pretty much counter any non CC ult. It will just heal almost all the damage that ult did.

Clearly this shows how OP really is.
