If your enemy in solo lane is a magical god, you should use this start. If you want to, you can change Sands of Time for Vampiric Shroud or Conduit Gem, but I've found the first to be more efficient and gives Aphrodite a bigger advantage overall, as it allows her to stay in lane for longer and be able to even win lane against some characters.
If your enemy in solo lane is a physical god, you should use this start. If you want to, you can change Sands of Time for Conduit Gem or Warrior's Axe, but I've found the first to be more efficient and gives Aphrodite a bigger advantage overall, as it allows her to stay in lane for longer and even win lane against some characters.
If you're not sure about who'll be laning with, you should start with these.
For Core Items, you should build first whichever shoes you prefer (Personally I do prefer Shoes of Focus as it gives you more mana and CDR), then you should finish your Defensive item (Makes no sense to build Lotus Crown first if you're laning against a magical god). If you end up getting fed really ahead, you CAN skip the other protection item and go straight for some damage, but I do advise against it.
The first three items will be the most common. Rod of Asclepius is not only good for it's passive but it also gives Aphrodite more Movement Speed, which sometimes is what keeps you alive. Gem of Isolation used to be an almost must-have on her, since it'll leave enemies slowed for 4s (if you hit them with Love Birds, basically giving you an aditional form of CC. Ethereal Staf will straight up steal their life and mana, which is incredibly amazing on a healer. Rod of Tahuti is a nice luxury power item if you don't want to get Book of the Dead, and it gives a nice bump to your damage and healing.
Divine Ruin is a nice counter item if you're going againts someone who also heals, or againts an enemy team with a lot of healing ( Sylvanus, Thanatos, Freya, gods like them), and it should replace Spear of the Magus.
Pestilence gives you an edge against healers (If you're facing another Aphrodite or maybe a Ra). I do believe you should only get this item if their team has more than 1 healer. Also, check with your Support if he'll pick up Pestilence, so you don't have to. Spectral Armor is more targeted to teams with multiple crit-users (maybe double Crit AA Hunters or Crit Assassin + Crit Hunter), and it's extremely situational. Winged Blade should also be a must-have on Aphrodite, but, alas, we can't have 7 item builds. If you feel like the slows are the reason you're dying/not being efficient, use this item in the place of Book of the Dead
Check the Threat Tab to be if you should get Heavenly Wings or Teleport Glyph as your first relic. Purification Beads is extremely situational and should only be gotten if their team has a lot of stuns/roots/taunts, and, if so, it'll occupy the spot of Teleport Glyph, as Heavenly Wings is a must-have relic on Aphrodite.
Pretty solid overall build. With the protections from both defensive items and her passive Center of Attention, the extra pen from Charon's Coin really makes a difference in the damage department. Chronos' Pendant will give you a lot of Cooldown Reduction, which is quite the upgrade.
Super Late Game (40+ minutes), you'll want to sell your Shoes of Focus for Elixir of Speed and look into replacing it with another item, may it be Winged Blade (which is what I recommend), possibly Rod of Tahuti or something in between.
BEWARE: Don't sell your boots and buy Elixir of Speed before you can actually replace Shoes of Focus with another item (As in buying the elixir + selling boots and buying another item at the same time).
PS: If you go into super late game, I recommend switching Stone of Fal with Genji's Guard, since they'll provide better defenses and help you with CDR and Magical Burst.

Hello everyone, this is ThePerfectPrism and I'm here with my 8th SmiteFire guide ! This time, it'll be for the same goddess as in my 2nd guide, which is Aphrodite, Goddess of Love. In this case, my own solo lane guide for her!
This guide also uses parts of FemFatalis' Aphrodite guide, with her authorization.
Also, keep in mind this guides focuses on her Solo lane viability. While I've added a Mid build, this guide's intent is to help you play her on Solo lane! Maybe, if I have enough requests, I'll add a Mid step by step and tips!

ABILITIES
|
CENTER OF ATTENTION
|
Center of Attention is a truly interesting passive. It increases both of your protections by 4 for each god within 70 units, stacking up to 9 times, making it a very useful to maintain yourself in late teamfights
This ability can not be leveled, and is active at all times.
|
KISS
|
Kiss is a stun, which stuns the enemy for 1 second and, if you use it on an ally,it will create a magical link, which synergyzes with her other abilities, and gives a movement speed buff (8/11/14/17/20%). If you stun an enemy while linked with an ally, it will give your teammate a Jealousy buff, increasing damage for 8/11/14/17/20%
This ability should be leveled third, after Back Off! and before Undying Love
Use this ability for the following circumstances:
- Disrupt Enemy Abilities. - Speed buff - Link with an ally and heal/Jealous buff them. |
BACK OFF!
|
Back Off! is a point blank AoE massive damage ability that deals 80/140/200/260/320 (+70% of your Magical Power), applying both a knockback and a 25% slow. If you're linked to an ally, an explosion will also occur on them, applying the same amount of damage and the slow for 25% during 2 seconds
This ability should be leveled second, after Love Birds and before Kiss
Use this ability for the following circumstances:
- Disrupt Enemy Abilities. - Massive Nuke Damage - Knockback enemies to escape. |
LOVE BIRDS
|
Love Birds is a rectangle AoE damage/heal ability that deals 105/175/245/315/380 (+105% of your Magical Power) total damage and healing you and your ally for 60/102/144/186/228 (+60% of your Magical Power) after the 3 seconds.
This ability should be leveled first
Use this ability for the following circumstances:
- Clear Wave. - Massively Heal you and your allies - Zone out enemies in choke points. |
UNDYING LOVE
|
Undying Love is an invulnerability ultimate that makes you CC Immune and Damage Immune for .8 /1.1/1.4/1.7/2 seconds. If you have an active link, they'll also become immune for that duration.
This ability should be leveled last
Use this ability for the following circumstances:
- Negate all forms of incoming damage. - Save allies - Turn the tides of a teamfight. |
The starting build is Sands of Time, a defensive item (either Druid Stone or Imperial Helmet, a Healing Potion, and three Multi Potion. Sands of Time will fit aphro perfectly, since it's passive allows you to keep your mana regeneration up, while also giving you early CDR, which is something you want in Aphrodite. The defensive item will built into it's Tier 3 form ( Stone of Fal or Lotus Crown second, as you'll want to finish off your boots before them. The potions are for worst-case scenarios.
As Aphrodite, you don't really have to back at any time. I've stayed in lane until after my second blue buff wears out, then backed and bought the first two items. If you're forced back before you can start Shoes of Focus, just buy either it's Tier 2 ( Magic Shoes) or the Tier 2 of the defensive item ( Sage's Stone or Jade Mountain Helm). Personally, I'd rush the first defensive item (Lotus Crown or Stone of Fal) first, as I'm used to Aphrodite's movement speed and positioning due to years of playing her, but I'll recommend the following gold listings for you:
Gold numbers in which you should back are:
The first two or three levels are hard for Aphrodite; most meta solo gods can outclear and outpush Aphrodite. What you want to do is focus on clearing the archers, since they do the most damage, and poking out the enemy solo laner, by hitting him constantly with auto attacks while also hitting him with your Love Birds (which will also give you sustain) into Back Off! combo. After these levels, the real fun begins.
The last part of what I refer to as the early game is level 5. If the enemy solo laner has kill potential at level 5 (the two most important being Bakasura and Bellona), take Undying Love. If not, put a third point in Love Birds for increased clear and healing.
The laning phase constitutes the mid game. By level 9, you'll have full clear with Love Birds apart from the brute minions. With given clear, Aphrodite becomes a poke monster, especially after 30% CDR is reached with Sands of Time, Shoes of Focus and Blue Buff. You can clear the wave, Kiss the enemy solo laner, Back Off! them, and lead them with Love Birds again for enormous levels of poke. Blue buff allows an infinite number of these pokes. Unless you die once or twice during this phase, you are guaranteed to win lane and get the tower first. In addition, when other solo laners rotate, it is not as safe for you to do so. Instead, push the tier 2 tower, take jungle buffs, et cetera. Take advantage of farming the lane alone. Also, don't forget about the Totem that stands in the jungle space that separates solo from Fire Giant. It grants your team as gives them an early movement speed buff and also 25 MP5!
Ganks will most likely happen during the mid game. During an allied gank on the enemy solo laner, you will want to Kiss your jungler immediately and use Back Off! to slow the enemy. Love Birds will serve as poke and extra damage, but mostly, you'll be playing assist. Kissing the solo laner will increase your jungler's damage, so land those Kisses!
As soon as Aphrodite enters teamfights, the game changes. You'll (possibly) have close to max CDR, so heal your allies whenever possible. You can even spam Love Birds into walls or camps instead of hitting enemies, since the heal is extremely valuable. Don't waste Undying Love - use it only if your soul mate is about to die or if a burst/cc-heavy ultimate ( Release The Kraken!, Pillar of Agony, Searing Pain, Waxing Moon, etc ) is used on you and/or your soul mate. Kiss targets that your soul mate is focusing for the increased damage. Use Back Off! to stop enemy aggression. Aphrodite is the mistress of sustain, so use her healing and CC to your advantage. Always stay linked to your jungler or ADC, linking to others only for temporary amounts of time and only if they are low health.
Don't forget about your Elixir of Speed! This is a consumable that gives you 18% Movement Speed, the same amount as boots, for an unlimited amount of time, for the price of 2000 gold. In long games (45+ minutes), Selling boots, grabbing this Elixir, and getting another damage item (maybe Rod of Tahuti or Spear of Desolation) is arguably a solid decision, but getting a defensive item (specifically Winged Blade) also seems wise.

I want to expand our discussion from a couple days ago, while making some points about your guide and your latest changes.
• SOLO:
• Builds:
- First and foremost, the point where we had our discussion: Cooldown reduction.
I still think you should build your CDR item (either Breastplate of Valor or Chronos' Pendant) as, at max, the third item. So, in your example build, I'd swap the build order for Chronos' and Ethereal Staff.
I CANNOT imagine any Aphrodite surviving until late game without at least 30% CDR. Her early game is already trash, and your cooldowns are too long. Why do you want to make yourself suffer even more by delaying CDR?
The "standard" Aphro mid build gets 30% CDR in the first 2 items (Chronos' and Focus), and I honestly think solo should go for a similar route. (30% CDR within the first 3 items, at least).
Just like Chang'e and Hel, there are 3 things Aphro really needs, in order of priority:
1. CDR;
2. MP5;
3. Power (To scale your heals).
- I'm happy to see that you picked Lotus Crown as your physical defense item of choice. It is, indeed, one of the best options for Aphro in the solo lane. (The other one being Breastplate of Valor.)
- I understand your choice for Void Stone (possibly the best hybrid magical defense item in the game for guardians/mages), but after the 7.1 changes this item should not be built first in any build. I undesrtand that you want the power from T1/T2 to help with clear, but the protection reduction aura will be negligible during the first 10/15 minutes of the match. It's still a good item in the 4th/5th slot, but not before that.
But even with that, I consider Aphrodite a more backline-focused solo, so her job is to either peel for her squishies or help the assassin dive the enemy team, and I don't think she'll be that close to the enemy for Void Stone to be that impactful.
Since you're going Gem of Isolation, why not pick Stone of Binding? It's going to give some prots and you can apply the passive with 3 of your abilities (After you built Iso).
- Guardian's Blessing lost its effectivness in solo, so it should be removed.
- Unless you're going Book of Thoth or MAYBE Warlock's Staff (which you shouldn't in Aphro solo), Book of the Dead shoudn't be listed.
- I think Spear of the Magus should be completely removed, even from situationals.
- Why Pridwen, Soul Reaver and Shield of Regrowth aren't listed as situationals?
• Matchups:
- King Arthur should be placed lower, because Aphrodite completely counters him.
- I'm curious about where you would place Mulan, because I'm not sure myself.
• Writeup:
- Your notes section for your example build still mentions items that you replaced, like Charon's Coin and Rod of Asclepius. Take a look at those.
Actually, you should revise all the notes, because some of them are talking about items that you removed and aren't mentioning the new items that you included.
- Your Items section still mentions Celestial Legion Helm instead of Lotus Crown.
- Why do you consider Lotus Crown and Rod of Asclepius combo overkill? They complement each other, and one doesn't replace the other.
- Unless fully maxed, I don't think Undying Love can escape Pillar of Agony, but I might be wrong.
• MID:
• Builds:
- I like your example build, but I have a question: Why aren't you building Rod of Asclepius on your solo build (a low power build due to protection items) but going Asclepius on your mid build (a full power build)? Should't it be the opposite?
I mean, from my undestanding, Asclepius is an alternative for low-power builds for your heals to still be effective, and a mid build doesn't need that. What's your opinion on the matter?
- I think you should go at least 30% pen in mid, so pick something that has 10% pen as one of the last items.
- I'd replace the build order for Rod of Tahuti and Spear of Desolation.
And that's it! Let me know what you think.
I don't think Aphrodite needs CDR within the first 3 items. You should round off your bases (Damage+Protections) in the first three items, so that you may survive ganks and possible early rotations. While CDR is core for Aphrodite, I don't think, in solo, it's as needed early on.
Maybe this is why you always die when mid ganks you :p
In truth, you want Void Stone not only for the passive, but for the stats. 60 Magical Protection will make sure you arrive into late game quite well protected, which is when the passive kicks in. 55 units is (close to) the range of Love Birds. Are you sure you're never 55 units close to enemies late game? Unless you're trying to be a fully-committed-to-healing Aphrodite, you should also be peeling and doing damage with your nuke and, if possible, your heal.
Mainly because it's stats aren't good enough to justify it in the build. Even if it's applicable with 3 of her abilities, it'll take away another item from her. Maybe you could switch it with Void Stone, but only in a game you're up against 4 physicals and 1 magical.
Pridwen starts counting the moment you press 4, not after the ultimate wears off, which interferes with it's whole idea.
Soul Reaver isn't as interesting as Ethereal Staff, Rod of Ascpleius Gem of Isolation, or a number of other itens on aphro in solo.
Shield of Regrowth is mainly personal bias. Aphro already has a speed boost with Kiss and with items like Rod of Asclepius. This item isn't that good on her.
Even. Mulan can Grapple you away from safety but you completely shut her Cross Strike with Kiss, and you can ult her Divine Mastery.
As for Writeup, I know some information is outdated, honestly the guide is a wall of text, unlike my other guides, making it quite harder to look for flaws, especially for notes. Lotus Crown and Rod of Asclepius both in your build take away space that can be used for another item that could increase your surviveability. (BUT HEALING INCREASES YOUR SURVIVEABILITY). Well Sherlock, so does Healing and Defenses, or Healing and CC.
Undying Love at level 2 can escape Pillar of Agony from the epicenter.
Asclepius gives you a lot of power and extra movement speed, which is essential for aphro when she's building glass cannon.
EDIT: I just saw that I placed Celestial Legion Helm as some of the late item choices. Well, My thought process there would be to counter the enemy hunter, if he comes for Aphrodite, he'll have a hard time getting through the Celestial Legion Helm stacks (just for a small amount of time cuz hunters are normally going 2+ AA/s) but yeah, Lotus Crown can be a nice item as well.
I really like your aphrodite guide from head to toe and i wanted to suggest you putting Ah Puch as Extreme threat, since his kit fully counters Aphrodite.
Also, Eset is a really interesting match up which i'd also include in Extreme threat. Spirit Ball plus Wing Gust is your death in the very early game. Aphrodite might be on the top 5 mages with lowest base HP in the early game (I think its 442, i'm not really sure). However, to the point, if isis gets a kill on aphrodite in the very early game, she will already start snowballing, and if she gets 1 or 2 kills more she will be literally unstoppable.
Really, a lane against Eset as Aphrodite is not fun. Its insanely hard to juke, if you get stunned without your ultimate up you will have a trip back to base, and its REALLY hard to time Undying Love to Circle of Protection.
That's all! Cya
As for Eset, she's the early game pressure goddess, it would be dumb for anyone to try and step up to Eset if they're not an early game power house as well (Think Hades or Agni). Spirit Ball is something easy to juke when you've seen how the enemy uses it after 2-3 times (You'll always notice a pattern with their aiming, they'll either aim towards where you're walking (which makes it easy to juke) or in your general direction (Which could make it harder to juke)). The trick against Eset is to cancel her Wing Gust with Kiss and pressure her out with your heal (even tho she has nice sustain because of Funeral Rites.).
Also maybe somewhere list Divine Ruin as a counter item. It makes more sense for Aphro than Pestilence (which she isn't great with, Aphro isn't exactly a frontliner, even built tanky, so you would only really get good use of pestilence on her if someone like Ao with bancrofts + typhons or Kali or Pele was diving your backline).
Unless you're a guardian with obnoxiously long cooldowns (Hi @ Jormungandr), I'd always recommend Celestial Legion Helm or Lotus Crown (if you can heal) for magical solo laners.
In the notes I do mention everytime that I prefer CDR boots over Pen boots for Aphrodite, but that's my personal preference and should even I sometimes use pen boots depending on how my lane is going. As for divine ruin, that's my bad cuz I swore that it was listed on the guide, and will include it in the next update.
Now, for void stone and celestial legion helm, I used to run Breastplate and found better results using celestial legion helm (which Estidien had a discussion with me which prompted me to try the item and I've had an amazing time with it,), and, for Void Stone, I'm in the process to change it to Stone of Fal, which gives aphro more CDR (to compensate for not running Breatplate anymore), a passive that helps againts high-burst late game (which compensates for less protections).
I'd argue that ever since they reworked Stone of Fal, the passive doesen't actually do much to negate burst from mages. So unless you're only buying the item for it's base stats, which is fine, I don't see how the item is that effective looking at it's passive.
"Anytime you would be dealt more than 30% of your Max Health by a single magical ability, that damage is instead reduced to deal exactly 30% of your max Health. This effect can only occur once every 60s." - so an anti-burst item for squishy mages.
Now here is the current, reworked version:
"Anytime you would be dealt more than 20% of your Max Health by a single Magical ability, that damage is instead reduced by 10%. This effect has no cooldown."
Now I don't see how the current passive does much to negate high burst from mages at all, instead it seems better suited for targets already building super tanky/already have a good amount of magical defense.
This is why I judge the item on it's base stats alone in it's current state.
You swapped Breastplate of Valor with Celestial Legion Helm as a core item, which is something that I like. I'm playing a lot with mages in the solo lane lately ( Hades, Zhong Kui and Chang'e), and this is my go-to physical protection item. Well, with Hades and Zhong at least, because with Chang'e I use Lotus Crown.
And that's the first question I wanna ask: Don't you think Lotus Crown is a better option for Aphro since she's a healer and can proc it often? Now, here I go again to bring back the point that I always discuss about with Bran, but despite the fact that Aprho's a single target healer, I still think that not using Lotus is a waste of her potential.
Now, into other questions.
• Don't you think Book of the Dead should be removed, since we're not building a lot of mana items in the example build? Actually, since we're not building Book of Thoth?
• I believe Spirit Robe and Hide of the Urchin should be listed, because they're great dual protection items.
• Shouldn't Divine Ruin be listed as well? I think it's a good replacement for Spear of the Magus if you need anti-heal (better than Pestilence, imo).
• With the removal of Breastplate of Valor, we're with 20% less cdr, and your current example build only has Shoes of Focus to provide cdr. Don't you think Aphro needs at least 20% cdr, due to her long cooldowns? I think we need another item to make up for the lack of BoV. Maybe Genji's Guard instead of Void Stone? Or maybe add something like Shield of Regrowth somewhere else?
• I think you should add some more relic options, like Magic Shell, Cursed Ankh for healers, Phantom Veil for Odin and even Meditation Cloak against executes ( Thanatos, Achilles and Ao Kuang).
~ Like I've said a lot, I do believe that Rod of Asclepius is better on Aphrodite by giving her Movement Speed, which ends up acting as her escape, and Celestial Legion Helm provides to be better than Lotus Crown most of the times.
~ Book of the Dead is a good offensive item that brings some defensive value, and it's the reason why it's here on the build. We're not focusing our build/playstyle around it, but it's worth noting.
~ Both aren't as rewarding on Aphrodite as Mantle of Discord is, mainly because we're not using Oni Hunter's Garb to stack the Dmg Mitigation (for Spirit Robe, and Hide of the Urchin doesn't give you enough while you're in a fight.
~ This is a in-trasition update while I'm finishing the info on the main guide + updating the BBCoding, so it still doesn't mention Divine Ruin mainly cuz I'm still writing about it.
~ Void Stone is going to be replaced by Stone of Fal in the next update, therefore, you'll have 10% CDR (when you sell boots), plus the 10% from blue buff (which is good to have all stages of the game with Aphrodite) and you can replace boots with Chronos' Pendant, if you wish to focus on the 40% CDR.
~ I don't believe Aphrodite gets as much use out of these other relics to exchange Heavenly Wings for it, so that's why it's not mentioned.
Hope that sums it! Anything else?
• But I never said you shouldn't pick up Rod of Asclepius. I also think it's a great item for Aphro, and should be the first item after you finish your core. I don't see how Asclepius and Lotus Crown excludes each other, my suggestion is that both should be built. You think Celestial Legion Helm is more useful?
• I still think Book of the Dead loses it's value if you don't have other mana items on your build.
• I agree about Spirit Robe, but I still think Hide of the Urchin should at least be mentioned as a situational item, because the stats are VERY good. 50 of each protection and 250 health and mana? Sign me in :p
• No problem.
• Stone of Fal? Is this item that good to replace Void Stone?
• I don't think these relics should replace Heavenly Wings (I also love this one for Aphro), but instead replace Teleport Glyph.
~ Celestial Legion Helm is REALLY useful, while it lacks 5 physical protection and 20 magical that Lotus Crown's passive gives, it compensates with 30 extra Magical Power, which isn't a lot, yeah, but it's the difference in getting an advantage on the laning phase.
~ I don't build it anymore, but I think it's worth mentioning it.
~ Ehhh, I'll mess around with it a bit more and see what happens.
~ kk
~ I was talking to Estidien about this item. While I was defending Void Stone, he had some solid arguments: Late game, the 60 Magical Protection is useless againts mid laners, who all build a **** ton of penetration. Stone of Fal makes it so you won't get destroyed by Scylla, Poseidon, Ra and other burst mages.
~ If you're not getting Teleport Glyph, you should get Purification Beads. I don't feel like you have a lot of room to experiment with Aphrodite solo, on the current state she is. She isn't nearly as good as all the other solo laners atm, so you do need some mastery with her, and Beads ends up being a must if you're not getting Teleport Glyph.
No, but I'm not sold on void either. This is one of the few times I'd recommend Heartward Amulet on a support.
I feel at least one start should have Chalice of Healing, e.g. Guardian's Blessing, Shoes, Chalice of Healing.
If you check the notes, I do mention that you can grab whichever shoe you prefer, and that I have a personal preference for Shoes of Focus on Aphrodite. I truly forgot about Witchblade and do agree that it deserves a mention on the guide, however, I don't see the other items being as worth to Aphrodite as the main build and situationals themselves. Sure, late game you could change Void Stone for Bulwark of Hope or Genji's Guard, but you'd have to sacrifice Book of the Dead for any of the other mentions.
I don't think Aphrodite gets much from Magic Shell or Phantom Veil, and Heavenly Wings's surviveability outweights them.
Also, Aphrodite solo cannot survive without the mana from Multi Potions or Mana Potions themselves. There are moments your Jungler won't be able to do your blue buff, and you need them. Also, Health Potions and Multi Potions allow you to double heal, or even triple heal with Love Birds, allowing you to be a bit more aggressive, and that's why I think Aphrodite doesn't need Chalice of Healing.
I found that spear of magus seems to work nicely for extra damage.
Recently I faced a Bakasura that was chasing me and managed to send him running through well, my whole kit. Was it luck or is she naturally good against him?
People think that Bakasura owns Aphrodite in lane, but that's because some people don't even try to learn her and build her differently then other mages! I assume you followed my reccomendation and got Heavenly Wings? It really covers up the thing aphro lacks most, which is mobility (also it helps with Baka's ult slow which in turn makes you counter him better so there's that)
I assume you followed my reccomendation and got Heavenly Wings?
YES!!!
It got me out of a LOT of sticky situations. Also, very very agreed.
